Miraculous Lavender - Part 2

"Lavender" literally means "to wash" or "to be washed".
It's been thousands of years since the discovery that the
oils from this plant's flowers are remarkably useful. Since
that discovery, Lavender has become one of the most
beloved plants on earth, due to its medicinal qualities and
distinctive aroma.
My opinion is that Lavender is a Gift from the Almighty,
Who placed us here and gave us everything we need to
survive, even thrive.
The botanical name of Lavender is Lavandula angustifolia. It is usually referred to as true Lavender. It actually belongs
in the Mint family, Labiatae, because of the shape of the
flower and how it's pollinated.
True Lavender's main chemical components are Linalol
and Linalyl acetate. These are what makes it so healing.
Unfortunately, true Lavender essential oil is often mixed
with a cheap 'filler' and then sold on the market. This cheap filler
is another kind of Lavender, a hybrid called Lavandin.
The hybrid Lavandin is a cross between Lavandula angustifolia
and Lavandula latifolia.
Lavandula latifolia, Lavandin, mixed with true Lavender,
is the most commonly sold essential oil on the market today.
Lavandin is used because it is less expensive, and makes
manufacturers more money.
But Lavandin does not give the same healing qualities as
True Lavender, even though they're both Lavender.
The main chemical components of latifolia are Linalol,
Linalyl acetate AND CAMPHOR. Though camphorous
latifolia (Lavandin) has some applications, Camphor is
caustic, and makes skin conditions like wounds and burns
aggravated, actually worsening the injury.
We at Everlasting Gardener offer True Lavender, made by
Nature's Sunshine.
Perhaps you can understand why it is very important
that you use high quality Lavender essential oil.
Consider that the skin is the largest organ of the
body, and what you put on it is absorbed straight into your
bloodstream. When inhaled, essential oils travel right to the
brain. It makes sense to use an essential oil that is pure and
therapeutic grade.
Why risk, at the worst, doing your health some damage,
and at the least, using an ineffective product?
Here's a little recipe:     Since most insects detest the scent
of Lavender,  try mixing Lavender essential oil, either by itself
or mixed with Sweet Thyme, Lemongrass and Eucalyptus, to
keep bugs away during outdoor activity, or rid your home of
dust mites. How about deterring bed bugs when you travel
and need to sleep in a hotel/motel?
Just mix a little rubbing alcohol with water in a ratio of
1 to 3, and add 16 drops of any combination of essential
oils above, including Lavender, to 2 cups of the alcohol and
water base. Put into a spray bottle, mix well, and spritz
around the house, close eyes and spray on skin, on suspect
bedding, etc.
You'll receive the added benefit of uplifted mood,
de-stressing and relaxing.
